Representing the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was Yang Mulia Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Prime Minister's Office, as the ASEAN Senior Official on Energy Leader for Brunei Darussalam. The 26th ASEAN Centre for Energy Governing Council Meeting (26th ACE GC) was also held as part of the associated meeting.

24 October 2023The Recent Outage on 17th October 2023The Department of Electrical Services (DES), Prime Minister’s
Office would like to provide an update to the recent power
outage that happened at 11.30 am on the 17th October 2023
affecting majority of the customers across the country.
Resources were immediately deployed to minimise the
downtime. Supply was restored in stages beginning 3 hours
later at 2.20 pm and most customers received the supply at
9.00 pm with full restoration accomplished at 2.22 am.

10 July 2023A Just Energy Transition Towards Green and Sustainable Development in Southeast Asia in conjunction with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2023 (Brunei MYCE 2023)The Department of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office of Brunei Darussalam, in collaboration with the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) is hosting a two-day seminar to encourage regional knowledge transfer and enhance understanding for an accelerated “just" energy transition. With the theme, “A Just Energy Transition Towards Green and Sustainable Development in Southeast Asia", the seminar brings together regional and local experts, energy players, academia, researchers, government officials, financial institutions and youth to participate in the discussions and deliverables. The seminar is being held from 10th to 11th July 2023 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) as part of a series of seminars, organized in conjunction with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2023 (Brunei MYCE 2023). 26 November 2022Apply and develop skills gained, students toldPermanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad as a member of the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) Working Group hoped that students will continue to apply and develop the skills and knowledge that they have gained throughout their 15 months of training, to make full use of them as well as the industry experience to become a valuable asset to their company. Dr Haji Azman also shared that over the last few years, the iSkills and Industrial Skills Qualification (ISQ) programme have been enhanced through the Manpower Industry Steering Committee (MISC) Working Group for Energy with the support of the industry to supply the local talent for manpower demands.
